My husband Anthony, son Jacob and I moved to New Plymouth back in 2008 after living in Auckland all my life. Not knowing anyone I discovered a Zumba Fitness class and thought well this could get me back into shape after having my second son Khalel. It was great after having my other children Malaena and Niko also. So yes, mother of four.
I have a martial arts background from teaching Childrens Kung Fu, Womens only Kickboxing, Womens self defence and competing at a New Zealand National level. 15 years of training. Coming to live here I missed such a huge part of my life as there was no Shaolin Martial Arts here. Then Zumba Fitness came into my life.... WOW!
I met an amazing women Kelly McHaffie also a Team Azucar member in a Zumba class and our journey began. Doing our training together in 2015 and discovering Zumba Kids training in 2016 we went on to opening our Zumba Kids classes, not only after school but daycares, kindy's and now schools "All You Need Is A Beat".
Then Strong By Zumba was launched and it literally was like my two worlds had hust been mashed together. The Martial Arts techniques included in a high intensity class BOOM! love it. So yes, I did my training in 2016 and opened my own class in March 2017 after being mentored by the wonderful Puna Wano-Bryant, another amazing Team Azucar member.

What Does Zumba Mean To Me?
Freedom and the chance to laugh, socialise and exercise with amazing and inspiring people no matter their age.
I love seeing kids and adults being inspired by each other. Kids show expression and let themselves be free. Adults for Strong By Zumba inspire me with their belief in themselves and achieving goals before my eyes.
With the two different classes I instruct I just enjoy people stepping out of their comfort zones.
